Folk Collection
As children, we crawl beneath hedgerows searching for hedgehogs and fairies. We believe the
rocks at the bottom of the garden are sleeping trolls, and that the hills themselves might be
dragons. Lost keys and countless socks were surely stolen by giggling pixies. Dew sparkling at
dawn was certainly magic, as were four-leaf clovers and pebbles with holes through them. Mist
hanging delicately over fields and brushing the forest edge was dragon breath, hiding the last
stragglers from a midnight market as they hurried beneath the canopy before daybreak.
When did we stop looking for magic?
When did we decide that the rustling beneath a hedge must be only a blackbird, and never a
fairy? When did we stop noticing the tiny flowers in city pavements, or the little leaves pushing
from cracks in old walls? When did every branch cease to be a magic sword, and every acorn
stop being a secret waiting to burst open?
Perhaps we simply need to remember how to look.
Perhaps we need to climb that tree, crawl beneath that hedge, and follow that winding path.
Perhaps we need to listen to rustling leaves and notice the flicker of
movement at the edge of sight that our adult selves have become so skilled at ignoring.
Perhaps we need to remember the magic.
Hargreaves Stockholm has now created creatures that are part of a world we need to
remember to look for. Companions, guardians, friends for protection and to bring on
adventures. These are The Folk.
